Wood burning template letter to councils

Alternative option for a wood burning stove - credit Lily Hughes

Some councils get it, and some don’t. We applaud Lambeth Council’s strong messaging on the need to reduce wood burning and Oxford City Council’s Do You Fuel Good campaign, which aims to educate people on the link between burning wood and air pollution and sets out the cleaner and safer options that can be used to heat our homes.

Local authorities across the UK have very different approaches to this much-misunderstood contributor to air pollution. We want to see all local authorities running strong public health campaigns on this issue.

Writing to your council about wood burning

With this in mind, and because people contact us all the time about their frustration with their local authority, we have written to all London councils again about the urgent need to inform their residents of the link between air pollution and domestic wood burning.

We have also updated our template letter to councils, which you can use to write to your councillors and councils to urge them to do far more to raise awareness. Download it below, then amend and send. Let us know if you get a response.

We also have a template letter for the media, eg interiors magazines or TV home improvement shows. You can find it here.
